Red Patches And Irritation On Penis After Using A Lubricant During Intercourse. What Does It Indicate And Treatment?

After having intercourse with a girl last night, I noticed my penis was very irritated and with red patches. I had never used lube before and we tried the Moods tingling lubricant. After that I put on the fire and ice condom. What caused the problem? But most of all,how do I get the irritation to go away? It still hurts!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be due to:
1. Allergic reaction to the constituent of the lubricant
2. Allergic reaction to the material of the condom
3. Sexually transmitted infection.

Management involves:
1. Intake of anti histamine preparation like Allegra
2. Application of steroid ointment
3. Antibiotic to protect from secondary bacterial infection
4. Maintenance of proper hygiene.

If symptoms still persist, kindly consult a Dermatologist & get a proper clinical examination done.
Investigations like complete blood count, VDRL test need to be carried out to rule out the presence of any Sexually transmitted disease.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
