Red Patches Around Nose, Peels. Yeast Or Skin Disease?

Hi,
I have developed red patches around my nose and sometimes it peels. It seems its spreading at my chin area also. I consulted a dermatologist here and she prescribed me to use emoderm and fucibet cream in 2:1 mixture thrice a day. But, it has been a month and not much effect. Still reddish patches persists around my nose . I feel very discouraged as I am suffering since 6-8 months. I have a very dry skin and it peels in the morning usually.

Is it a yeast or some skin disease. Just to inform,I drink lot of coke and eat good amount of chicken .

Please advice.

Thanks,
Manish

Hi, Manish..

It seems that you may be having seborrheic dermatitis (SD).

The disease runs chronic course and may spread to eye brows, scalp, chest, axillae and groin.

Exact cause is not known..but, yeast like pityrosporon ovale may be responsible.

Stress, anxiety, worries, excessive mental and physical work, sun rays exposure,
Sleeplessness, diseases like Parkinsonism may precipitate or exacerbate the disease.

There may be genetic tendency.

Take antifungal tab like ketoconazole with steroids in tappering dose.

Apply mild steroid with clotrimazole cream on the face.

Avoid soap.

Ketoconazole shampoo may be used to rinse the scalp.

Be calm and cool.

Avoid spicy and oily food.

I hope you got my answer.

Thanks.
