Red, Raw Skin With Peeling And Brownish Red Mark On Upper Lip After Waxing. How Long Will This Mark Stay?

I waxed my upper lip 3 days ago and clearly took some skin off in the process. The morning after, it was red and pretty raw, i applied polysporin on it and have been since then. It is the 3rd day and it has scabbed and is starting to peel, however there is a brownish, red mark being left behind... How long will this stay? Anything i can use to help get it off my face as soon as possible!?
Sincerely,
a desperate teen looking for a new face.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic,
The severe inflammation has caused pigmentation, called post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It will take time to go off completely. You may apply a cream containing Kojic acid/vitamin C twice a day. Sunscreen is important and has to be applied daily as sunlight exposure will make it worse.
hope this helped,
take care
