Red Spot On Exterior Skin Of Pelvic Bone, In Need Of Hip Replacement On Opposite Hip. Taking Mobic. Recommendations?
hi. i have developed a quarter-size very red spot on the exterior skin of my pelvic bone. It's right where the bone juts out. There are no symptoms i.e. itching, etc. I am in need of a hip replacement of the opposite(left) hip but am otherwise healthy.
I have been taking 7.5 mg. mobic daily for over a year now. Thank you.
Hello, The indicators for hip replacement and duration of red spots are important. If you are bed ridden the red spots before or after the disability. You say that the red spots are present over the protruding bone skin. If you are lying on one side the red spots can occur due to constant pressure. Most of the skin rashes may appear initially as non itchy red spots - which can turn into itchy later. for example Contact dermatitis and Allergic dermatitis. Herpes is conspicuous by its unilateral presentation.
The other causes of non itchy red spots may be folliculitis or eczema - but both can turn itchy any time. Folliculitis - Lab tests can show whether bacteria or fungus are present. Eczema - Patch testing can help to identify the allergens causing the eczema. Consult a dermatologist and get treated - before and post operatively. Best wishes
