Red Stool After Eating Beetroot, Red Cabbage, Mild Cramps. Taking Pantaprazole. Anything To Worry?
I had beets the day before yesterday, and a big helping of red cabbage yesterday. Today my stool is oozing red like blood. Over eating beets in the past has caused this, but never red cabbage, and also, the amount of beets this time was small. I have had mild cramps lately but am on pantaprazole so was not concerned. I am 72 yr old female. Should I be concerned
Hi, Welcome to HCM. Blood in stool can occur due to piles, anal fissure or in dysentry where there is severe abdominal pain indicating infection. If you are not having any of the above mentioned conditions then there is nothing to worry. I would suggest adequate water intake per day. Lots of fiber in daily diet regime. Thanks.
