Redness In Eye, Soreness. Something Flew In. Worry?
Yesterday, something flew into my eye while I was walking to work. It was extremely painful. When I got to work I notice that my eye was all red and it was very sore. The pain subsided but the redness did not. Today, I woke up and my eye had leaked some sort of gooey substance and my eye is still red. It is not painful and I have no discomfort, but am worried about the discharge and redness.
Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
It seems that due to dust flew in your eyes might give irritation and some infection.
as there is no pain and discomfort wait for one day.
put antibiotic eye drops 4=5 times a day.
If redness and discharge persist consult ophthalmologist to rule out any foreign body on cornea, which may cause corneal ulcer.
Clean eye with plane water.
ok and bye.
Hi
Welcome to HCM.
Your symptoms are suggestive of an allergic reaction caused by the immune response against the toxin released by the insect/foreign body (which hit your eye). Even though you don't have discomfort , since redness and discharge are still present, I suggest you to have an eye checkup done to
- make sure no remnants of the fly/dust is inside your eye
- rule out infection
-assure that your cornea is clear without any abrasions .
Wash your eyes thoroughly and give cold compresses with OTC lubricant eyedrops and oral antihistamine drug for a day or two until your appointment .
Take care :).
