Rib Injury, Severe Pain On Sneezing. X-ray Done. Bone Fractures?
i fell into the tub backwards and landed on my ribs. hurts like hell. I went to the doctor and he said he couldnt see a fracture on the xray but the radiologist wasnt there to read it. he said the fractures dont always show up right away..it hurts pretty much anything i do and god forbid i have to sneeze ..your thoughts please?
Dear Concerned.,
Thanks for writing to us.
The X-Ray was already taken and the doctor would have taken the correct decision after reading the X-ray.
For pain the cause could be a hairline fracture of rib/ribs/muscle contusion/Intercostal Nerve injury in the respective region.
For Immobilisation "Strapping" is the only conservative remedy followed by opioid analgesics such as Tramadol PO or Parenteral route.
In addition you may take rest in a propped up position.
In addition get a complete report by a Radiologist. Consult an orthopedic Surgeon for a proper immobilisation .
Wishing you a speedy recovery.,
Best Regards.,
