Ribs Paining, Bone Scan Shows Bilateral Rib Lesion. Are Ribs Fractured, No Breast Cancer?
Had breast cancer on the side of increased rib pain. Bone scan today - tests show: increased activity within anterior portion of right 8th, 9th, & 10th ribs and lateral aspect of left 12th rib. Also: bilateral rib lesions ( healing rib fractures ) So, are the ribs just fractured or do I need to be concerned about metastatic breast cancer
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The findings of the MRI are suggestive of a metastatic breast lesion. If there is no specific history of injury to the area, a fracture is not likely. You need to get a follow up scan done to detect any improvement or deterioration in the lesions.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
