Right Tonsil Is Swollen And Has Black Looking Area.Is It A Sign Of Tonsillitis?

My daughter has taken 2 rounds of antibiotics for negative strep test, but has had white splotches on her tonsils. She just finished the last antibiotic yesterday. This morning, her right tonsil is swollen and has some black looking area. Could this be tonsillitis or mono?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello

It looks like a tonsillitis and maybe the organism causing it is resistant to the antibiotics you are taking and you may have to change them.
Please meet your ent doctor for further advice, meanwhile ask your daughter to gargle with warm saline water 2-3 times a day.
Thanks
