Routine Urine Test Of A Child Showed High Leukocytes, Calcium Oxalate, Few Epithelial Cells. Precautionary Measures?

Hi, My daughter who is 9 years old got the below results in Urine routine examination. Leucocytes - found hundreds/hpf Erythrocytes - found (1-2)/hpf Epithelial cells - found a few only Cast - Nil Crystals - Calcium oxalates found (+) Others - Nil. Please suggest the meaning as well as precaution if any to be taken. Regards, Manoj Kumar

Hi Manoj,

Thank you for your query.

The investigation report suggests that your daughter has urine infection. Kindly get a urine culture done on a clean catch specimen provide no antibiotic has been started. After collecting the culture sample request your doctor to prescribe an appropriate antibiotic to control the infection till the culture report arrives.
