Salmonella. Appetite Nil And Feeling Of Metallic Taste To Food. Are There Any Long Term Effects To The Disease?

My husband and I both got salmonella on August 18th. We are pretty sue that we know what caused it, but we had thrown out the food, so it could not be tested. We took an antibiotic and some industrial strength immodium. His seems to be gone, but I am still having recurring bouts of it. I have lost 11 pounds and for the first time in my life, my appetite is just nil. I am a diabetic, and this is playing hell with the blood sugar. In addition, everything I eat has a metallic taste to it. Are there some long term affects with this stuff? cswearingen

Dear Mam,

I really don't understand the till now why haven't you consulted a doctor.
You should not do self prescriptions in your case.
I understand that every time it is not possible to take medical help. But i am saying this specially for you because you are a diabetic.
In diabetic patients , infections can precipitate a serious complication called as Diabetic Ketoacidosis.
Your metallic taste is most probably because of the metronidazole antibiotic you are taking.
Salmonella infections presents in many forms, typhoid, dysentry. We need to know the exact symptoms to tell you what antibiotic you need and for how many days.

Since you are a diabetic, mam please consult a doctor. You are loosing weight, severe dehydration can even lead to your kidney involvement, as being a diabetic your kidneys are in stress.
