HIV i got it. but wat is VDRL test. neither me nor my sister asked about it, as it was negative, but why did they do VDRL test?
vdrl test done to rule out....syphilis infection...it is especially impp for pregnant women...to go for this test as it may lead to abortion and...birth defects..
Hi,
Its a must for all pregnant women to test for three things HIV,VDRL and HBsAg.
Now VDRL is done to rule out infection with syphilis as this if found positive though very rare now,can cause infection to the fetus(growing baby)what we call congenital syphilis or may cause birth defects and repeated abortions in future.Hbsag is done to check hepatitis b status whether the mother is immune or not, based on the report ,if negative no further testing is required,if positive further tests and vaccines are indicated once the child is born .importantly both husband and wife need to be checked for all of them.hope you found this useful.
