Seen Red Circular Spots, White Puss On The Roof Of Mouth. Mistakenly Took Doxcycline. Used To Smoke Earlier. Suggestions?
I went to dentist today and he noticed red circular spots on the roof of my mouth. Usually I take Amoxicillan before a cleaning, but mistakenly took Doxcycline 400mg at one time. I had never noticed these until today, and am concerned. I did smoke years ago by have not for the past 22 years.Do I have to worry? Also have noticed a few white puss like areas in the far back of the throat. What type of specialist should I go to for a diagnosis?
Hello, Thanks for writing to us. Doxycycline usually will not cause the red spots as you mentioned. The lesion may be arised due to the habit of smoking. I would advice you to visit a dentist and get a thorough clinical evaluation done. White pus may arise from the abscess developed at the decayed or periodontally compromised tooth. Maintain oral hygiene well. Get deep scaling and curettage done. Pus within the lump has to be drained and curetted. Discontinue the habit of smoking. Hope this helps.
