Semen Analysis Shows Low Motility. Cause And Treatment?
Hi Doctor, i have recently done my semen analysis test and the reports say that my sperm count is perfect but motility is down which results in Asthenospermia. I really do not understand the actual reason for it, before i visit my urologist i wanted to check reason for this happening and what will be the treatment for it. Actually i'm married for past 3 years and seriously looking to have a baby.
Hello Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have what is called as Asthenospermia meaning there by that percentage of active motile sperm is less than 10 %.(Active motile sperms are the only sperm which are important from the point of view of resulting in Pregnancy.)
In spite of advanced research in field of infertility the cause of Asthenospermia is still not known hence their no medications to increase the motility of sperms.
If your sperm count of active motile sperm is less than 10% consult qualified Infertility specialist for detail evaluation and take advice and help to have your own child with advanced assisted reproductive techniques like IVF or ICSI. Dr.Patil.
