Severe Abdominal Pain Before Passing Stool. Had Severe Diarrhea Along With Blood In Jelly Looking Thing. What Is It?

A week ago I had terrible abdominal pain/cramps right before I needed to go to the toilet. I had severe diarrhea. I visited the toilet at least 20 times in 12 hours. I went through hell. Many times I did not poop but I had gas and a clear, slimy, gooey stuff popped out of me. Once it was 4-5 cm long. I did not feel well for a week. In a week about 3 times when it was severe and lasted about 10 hours when I had to go at least 20 times. I thought I'm back to normal but I just saw a gooey, slimy clear jelly coming out of me and I saw blood in it. I have no abdominal pain this time. I did not have colon hydrotherapy before this incident but when I felt better I had 2 from a professional. Even before the colonic I saw blood in the jelly looking thing. What could it be? I'm a pretty healthy person in overall. I don't practice anal sex. Can you please tell me what can it be? I have no insurance I'm worried.

Dear patient,

Thanks for the query. The jelly looking thing you mention is mucus; it seems that you had a very bad case of dysentery, or bloody diarrhea, which is mostly caused by some bacteria. After the acute phase resolves clinicaly as it appears in your case, the intestines are still raw, and there can be some residual mucus admixed with blood. This should be getting better as your bowels heal though; if not then other more chronic causes should be entertained. I would give it more time.

Hope that helps, wish you the best,
