Severe Cough Along With Mucus In Throat Can Be Due To Bronchitis?
Hi. I have a bad cough that feels like a tickle in my throat. I constantly cough and it feels like mucus in my throat but doesnt completely come up when i cough. Its worse at night and sometimes when i talk i have to clear my throat to get the words out. Could it be bronchitis, post nasal drip. Please help
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of bad coughing after feeling tickle in the throat. The commonest cause of such a feeling is obviously the post-nasal drip. Your feeling like mucus in the throat and need to clear the throat before talking is indicative of either pooled up saliva or may be naturally coming up from the tracheo-bronchial tree. The cause of all these can be irritation or an allergy to something . I would advise you the following in such a situation. First of all, get an opinion of an ENT for clinical examination and endoscopy. Tests of blood, urine and X-ray of the chest. CT scan of the sinuses to see if there is primary or secondary changes Once a proper diagnosis has been made, the treatment becomes easy.
