Hello Pallavipan,
Thank you for posting your query.
I will like to first of all know about what medications you have taken and how you too it. There are many treatment options for severe gastritis. Also proper diagnosis needs to be done to rule out any other possible causes of epigastric or
retrosternal pain. A fibroscopy or GI series will be properly indicated here. A test for Helicober pylori will also be necessary.
About your treatment options will depend if we are certain that you are suffering from
chronic gastritis. A protein pump inhibitor such as omeprazole,
esomeprazole, or other variants (depending on what is available in your country) should be taken for atleast 15 days or 1 month if one 20 mg tablet daily . This should be combined with a suitable antacids ( e.g aluminium hydroxide/
magnesium hydroxide generic, maalox, phosphalugel, topaal etc). Also
sodium bicarbonate salt could be useful in neutralizing the acidity.
Take food properly and avoiding starvation is the first measure to be taken and neutralizing acidity will be achieved. If H. pylori test is positive with reasonable titres, then eradication with associated antibiotics such as
amoxicillin + clindamycin or amoxicillin +
metronidazole and other combinations.
A visit to your doctor at this point will be useful so that he can determine the cause of the pain and establish a proper treatment.
Hope this helps
