Severe Pain In Fingertips Which Has Turned Purple. On Treatment For Shingles. Help
I have had pain in my fingertips on my right hand for months. I was diagnosed with shingles about 3 weeks ago, but never got a rash or any sign of pimples or blisters. I was given medication and the swelling in my hand went down but the pain in my fingertips remain. It is actually getting worse. It started in my right index fingertip and slowly moved towards the other fingers until it reached my pinky. It is now also in my thumb. The pain is sometimes unbearable. The tips of my fingers look purple compared the my fingers on the other hand. The pain is constant and may go away for a few hours but always comes back.
Hello, Thanks for the query. Turning blue of finger suggests that there is a decrease in blood flow to the finger. In other words you have developed a condition called as raynaud's syndrome.
This may not be related to the shingles. You need to meet a physician
Probably a color doppler of your hand may be required to know what is the exact cause.
Let me know if you have any other doubt. you can ask a direct question to me on this forum, following the below link. http://www.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-rahul-kumar/64818
