Severe Pain In Hip And Buttock While Walking. Is It The Time To Reevaluate AAA?
I have been diagnosed with a AAA five years ago. I have had a Fem to Fem shunt 2 years ago. I am now having trouble walking more than 50feet without getting terrible hip and buttock pain. Do you think it's time to have AAA reevaluated. I have never been followed with Doppler studies Q-6 months
Usually, elective surgery is indicated for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm more than 5.5 cms or which has increased size of about > 5mm in 6 months.
Reason for this is because there is risk of rupture.
One thing that can be advised is- Avoiding smoking and excellent control of hypertension helps a lot in decreasing the risk of rupture of aortic aneurysm.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have have any clarifications.
