Severe Pain In Lower Back, Vomited. History Of Kidney Infections. Did Pilates Exercise. Muscle Strain?
Hello, I recently suffered acute searing pain in my lower back. It felt like my right kidney and the pain was so severe it made me vomit. When the pain occurred I also felt an urge to urinate, but couldn't. I have a history of kidney infections, but haven't had any of the usual symptoms I used to get this time. I can still feel a dull ache in the area, and the pain only lessened when I lay in a fetal position for 30mins. I had done a very gentle Pilates exercise DVD earlier in the day so is it possible there is a deep muscle I could have strained? It definitely wasn't a superficial muscle as applying pressure didn't make it feel any different and I could not locate the source of pain with palpation. I am a 24year old female in good general health.
hello, thank you for trusting healthcare magic, low back pain associated with vomiting is most commonly renal colic, that is due to stones in the kidney. some urinary infections make you more prone to stone formation. you being unable to urinate suggest that the stone has dropped into the lower urinary tract and causing pain. You can take antispasmodic(Dicyclomine) and Tramadol for symptom relief Treatment depends on the size of the stone. you should get an ultrasound done(abdomen and pelvis) avoid eating spinach and tomatoes.
