Severe Tendinitis, Carpal Tunnel, Bulged Forearm. Cortisone Injection Given. History Of High Cholesterol. Any Suggestion?

i had a cortisone injection 2 weeks ago. doc. accidentally shot me in the vein, and then injected me into the right place. at the wrist. i have severe tendinitis and carpal tunnel. i am having surgery soon. anyway since the injection my veins on my forearm are bulging. i have alot of veins normally, however now they are really protruding. it is so ugly. is this related to the first injection, or because i love sweets and eat alot of them. high cholesterol. heart issues are big in my family. i will be 53 this month.

Dear patient,

Thanks for your health concerns. Sometimes we give the same substances, steroids, as an IV injection but in a gradual diluted infusion; since there was some complication with the application itself, certainly there would be a risk of infiltration (fluid going into the tissues), a clot or thrombus (phlebitis) or local irritant reaction. My best suggestion would be to see the provider who perfomed the procedure so that he can identify if there are any serious complications, since that provider knew your "anatomy" (how your arm looked) before the procedure.

Hope that is helpful, wish you the best health,

Dr Brenes Salazar MD
