Shall I Take One Imodium To Ease The Diarrhea?

I am taking Amox-Clav antibiotic for diverticulitis, day 5 on med. This afternoon I ve had horrible diarrhe (I assume side effect from the antibiotic). No fever, no light headedness, no other issues at all. Diverticulitis symptoms are gone. Is it ok to take 1 imodium to ease the diarrhea?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of diarrhea which could occur due to many reasons such as gastritis or IBS food poisoning and electrolyte imbalances. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to gastroenterologist for proper diagnosis and discuss the condition with him/her. Doctor may prescribe loperamide , ornidazole or laxative along with muscle relaxant. You can start with one imodium tablet. Drink plenty of water and avoid intake of hot, sharp and spicy substances. You should take diet rich in multivitamins.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
