Sharp Pain In Left Foot On The Outside Of Big Toe

The last two days I have experienced a sharp pain in my left foot, on the outside of the big toe, about where a bunion would be. (I don t have a bunion) It s a sharp stabbing pain as if someone poked me with 10 pins all at once. The pain lasts a few seconds, then subsides immediately. Then I will have another episode (same area) maybe a few minutes later. They come in clusters, then I won t have any pain for several hours. Just now I experienced the same pain in my left index finger, at the tip (pad side). Any ideas?
