Shorter Periods With Cramping And Diarrhea. Trying To Have Baby, HPT Negative. Could I Be Pregnant ?

Me and my husband are trying to have a baby. I started my poeriod on 10/9/2012 the day i was to start but it lasted about 4 days and its always lasted 7 days. Ive been have very lite cramping and waking feeling slightly sick and some diarrhea . I took a hpt a few weeks ago and got neg. Could it have been to early when i took it and could i be pregnant?
