Should Advil Be Continued In View Of The Headaches And Swelling?
I had a left ear ache. After 3 days I saw my internist. He prescribed afrin for 3-5 days, then a decongestant. If I did not get relief, see an ENT doctor. I tried afrin for 3 days but was getting worse - now had pain on the side of my head and at the back of my jaw. I moved on to decongestant - no improvement. One week from first symptoms saw an ENT doctor. He diagnosed me with a possible TMJ problem. He prescribed Methylprednisolone 4mg 6 pak and 2 advil every 6 hours. I now have much more severe headache behind left eye plus swollen bumps above left eye plus original pains may still existing at some level. I am seeing the ENT doctor again tomorrow morning. Is it OK to keep taking the advil?
Hello, Thanks for your query. Advil is ibuprofen. It can be taken after food for analgesia. It needs to taken under guidance, there is a probability of developing gastritis. Antacids may be required in prolonged therapy. Regarding your complaints, infections and vascular headaches have to be ruled out. Kindly see your doctor for continuation of treatment.
