Should Cialis Be Stopped In Case It Causes Lower Backache?

I tried taking Cialis (once a day 5 mg) but experienced severe lower back pain that started the first day and worsened the second day so I discontinued the medication. It’s been 3 days and the pain is still present. It starts in the lowest part of my back and is worse in the muscles of my behind and down both legs to my feet with some numbness at times. Should this have ceased by now or will the problem be ok as the mediation leaves my body?

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear you developed back pain while using Cialis. Back pain is a known side effect of Cialis, and the drug can have effects on your body up to about 3 days.

However, given that it doesn't sound like your back pain has improved at all, and because the pain goes down to your feet with some numbness, I would be suspicious that something else is causing your back pain, perhaps a nerve impingement in your back.

I would suggest seeing your doctor about it, he/she might be able to start you on some inflammatory medication and physical therapy which might help with the pain. I hope that helps and that you can relief from the pain quickly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
