Hi, thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. Your history is little incomplete. You have not mentioned about your
MRI brain findings, EEG impressions and about relapses of
epilepsy attacks. Your history is clearly mentioning that you are a very complaint patient and there is good
seizure control for last 2 years.
Usually seizure medication can be stopped after 3 years of complete seizure control. As a neurosurgeon, I advise an EEG before stopping anti epileptics. If EEG is suggestive of no seizure activity, there are good chances that seizure will not recur. If there is relapse of two or more than two times after, I usually advise life long seizure medication.
In your case, you should continue seizure medication for one more year.
- Consult your doctor. It is must. Your side effects might be due to overdose or high blood level of seizure medication.
- Get an EEG done as per your doctor's instructions.
If possible, you can send me your reports, I will be happy to help you more.
Hope it will help you. If still in doubt, do let me know.
Thanks. Take care.
