Should Diltiazem Be Taken When BP Ranges From 114 - 96 Systolic And 58 - 90 Diastolic?
I have afib taking both diltiazem and lisinopril; my bp ranges from 114 - 96 sys.; 58 - 90 dias and pulse all over the map from 110 to 58.....do I need to continue both of the above drugs? I m in the V.A. program and in 12 years have been assigned 20+ primaries and have only seen one for one full year and each new one focuses on something of his/her own choosing resulting in a total lack of continuity.
Hello, Diltiazem is prescribed to patients with atrial fibrillation for control of heart rate. Ideally the heart should be kept at below 100/min. Lisinopril has no effect on the heart rate and is purely for blood pressure control. I would not advise you to stop any of the above medicines if your systolic blood pressure is more than 90. If it gets below 90, you can skip lisinopril, and get medical advise for review of your medicines. Atrial fibrillation also increase the risk of some disease cardiovascular diseases and therefore medicines for thinning the blood should also be taken, I hope you have been prescribed some. If not, do talk to your doctor about it. Regards.
