Should I Be Concerned About A Dent On My Shin Bone When There Is No Pain Or Swelling?
hi I am female 25 I found a dent on my left shin bone. I have no swollen or pain Just tender when I press on the dent Feels like it’s on the bone Should I be worried I’m so worried rn I had calcium deficiency before Also my leg doesn’t hurt I can walk and do all sort of activities
Consult an orthopedist. Get X-ray, CT/MRI and required blood tests also. Tibial bone bruising injuries mostly heal with rest and protection from reinjury without any complication within a few weeks. Tenderness usually settles and the prominent bump on the shin gradually disappears.
Pitting Edema also causes dent. It is due to retention of water. Limit salt intake and avoid sedentary lifestyle. Get treated generalized edema, if there is water retention. Get tests done to check the mineral level of your system. Mineral deficiency does affect the bones, take magnesium, calcium, rich diet. You can also take supplements.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
