Should I Be Concerned About A Large Vertical Bump That My Son Has On The Back Of His Head?

our son fell and hit his head on the door casing. as far as we know he did not black out. he has cp so he does fall somtimes . there was alot of blood but we did get it to stop. it does not need to be stitched .. Our question is the fact that he has a very large vertical bump on the back of his head about 4 inches long and two inches wide. Itt is about two inches over from his right ear almost in the middle of the back of his head.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Give analgesics such as paracetamol. It will subside by its own. If any symptoms such as vomiting, the loss is consciousness then you need to take a CT scan to rule out any intracranial injury.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rajmohan, Pediatrician
