Should I Be Concerned About Low HDL Cholesterol With A Bounding Carotid Pulse And Angina?

I am 19, healthy and athletic. Used to drink/smoke every other week. I have been having a bounding pulse in my carotid artery. I am also facing angina problems right now. My blood test came back normal in everything except low HDL Cholesterol (but regular LDL)

Hello,

Low HDL leads to an increased cardiovascular risk, but this would not explain angina in a 19 years old patients. Angina is really exceptional at your age. I recommend performing a cardiac ultrasound, an exercise cardiac stress test and explore other possible causes of chest pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
