Should I Be Concerned About My Prolonged Stomach Ache And Bloating?

For 3 days I have had a stomach ache and very bloated. The first day I had diarrhea and the last couple of days it comes and goes. It seems to worsen if I eat. I have had some sharp pains in the lower right side that come and go. I am not sure if it is a virus or if I should be more concerned. I feel a virus would be over by now, but I still am not feeling well. The bloating is really making me feel miserable. Should I be concerned?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Sounds more likely in relation with a bacterial or viral infection, though if a long term issue inflammatory bowel condition or Crohn`s should also be listed as differential diagnosis list.

Primary relief with probiotics, prebiotics and GI antibiotics with the appointment of gastro specialist will be the best steps to proceed ahead.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

You can have infective gastroenteritis like infective condition.

You should be given rabeprazole like an antacid for one week and antibiotic-like Rifaximine for bacteria overgrowth syndrome for one week. Avoid the intake of excess spicy foods.

Take cooked oatmeal which will help in the soothing stomach.

Avoid excess tea, coffee intake.

If no improvement than USG abdomen scan should be done for further work up.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
