Should I Be Concerned About Radiating Pain From The Left Clavicle To The Neck, Right Hand High BP And The Inability To Check BP In The Other Hand?

Was seen by my cardiologist yesterday for my yearly checkup. The dr. was unable to get a BP reading in my left arm. He tried 3 times, but said I have a good pulse. I complained of pain in left clavicle that radiates into my neck. Nothing was said. BP in right arm was high. Should I be concerned?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

I recommend performing a Doppler ultrasound of the carotid and subclavian arteries, in order to exclude possible narrowing of such arteries. It is also important to closely monitor your blood pressure values in both arms. In case of abnormally high blood pressure values most of the time, I would recommend consulting with a cardiologist for a physical exam and performing some blood lab tests in order to investigate on possible causes underlying high blood pressure values.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
