Should I Be Concerned About Swelling In The Foot After An Insect Bite?

Was bit by an insect Thursday EVENING. Do not what it was. Bite on bottom of my left foot. It swelled immediately. I CLEANED WITH PROXIDE put on Neo and ice for swelling. The swelling went down. I have continued to clean and apply Neo. Over the last few days portion of my foot has turned black and blue. Should I be concerned? Email is YYYY@YYYY

Hi,

Well, the swelling is due to a bite that injects toxic chemical under the skin that causes an allergic reaction.

Turning of black and blue is due to the pricking of any superficial blood vessel and seepage of blood under the skin. Do not worry as it will get better gradually and it takes a few days to resolve.

You can also continue to do cool compresses it there is swelling or itching and apply a steroid based ointment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
