Should I Be Concerned About The Marks From ECG Stickers That Are Still Visible Six Days Later, And What Can I Do About Them?
Hi, I recently took part in a medical trial and had to have ECG stickers continually stuck to my skin, It’s been six days since the last time I had them on me and the marks are still there, i’m worried it could be a permanent thing, what do you recommend please.
Minor marks or discoloration from ECG stickers often fade on its own within a couple of weeks. If the marks are there due to skin sensitivity or allergy. You can apply a thin layer of ointment Soframycin over the area affected. If there is itching, you can apply a thin layer of hydrocortisone cream (1%) to help reduce inflammation. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation may take longer but usually resolves without treatment.
If there is no allergy, but you are worried about the marks that are not going than you are advised to use a gentle, hypoallergenic cleanser and warm water to clean the marks and ensure that there is no adhesive residue left on your skin. Avoid scrubbing, as this can irritate the skin further. Use a mild moisturizer or cream with aloe vera, calendula, to calm irritation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
