Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I started with dirarehea 36 hours ago, since I have not ate or drank much other than coke and water. Last night it has turned to a black gritty texture. The water I am drinking the last 3 weeks is very hard lots of minerals. Should I be concerned yet?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of diarrhea, not taking any food or anything else other than coke and water, water you are taking for the last 3 weeks is hard with lots of minerals, you had turned to black gritty texture. Wants to know whether to be concerned or not. Well, hard water with lots of minerals does not cause any diarrhea. Hence it is important to know the cause of diarrhea and this is possible by sending the sample for tests. If there is an infection you need a course of an antibiotic and metronidazole along with probiotic and supportive stuff like electrolyte solution and lots of water, fluids and food. I would advise you to consult your Doctor to get the clinical evaluation, examination and give you a proper prescription based medications.
