Should I Be Concerned If The Incision Done For Double Twisted Blocked Intestine Surgery Is Red?
My husband had on Jan 10th surgery for a double twisted blocked intestine. He was released on the 16th and did not have a bowel movement until yesterday. Nothing to jump up and down about. He is passing gas. Today his comfort level was higher than yesterday, his temp is 97.7 but his inscision is not bleeding or leaking but just noticed it is red on the outsde of the stitches. He was mentioning earlier he thought some pain was coming from his incision. He is 70 and when I said let's call your dr he claims he's fine. Should I be alarmed? Thank you
HI. Yes, you should be alarmed. This can just be stitch abscesses or can be a sign of impending burst-out of the wound. Or there can be just an infected collection underneath. Sonography may give an idea.
