Should I Be Worried About A Scab On The Penis Head From Masturbation?

Hello, due to excessive masturbation I had a small scab on penis just under the head, I used Neosporin and now it appears to be swollen and I am very concerned. not sure if it s the vein or not and does appear to be slightly swollen for a couple days now. Should I be as worried as I am and do j need to go to the doctor?

Hello,

Avoid any sex and self-pleasuring for a couple of days. Take care of your hygiene. Wear soft loose fitting cotton clothes so that the penis head is not hurt by friction or rubbing of the clothes. Such symptoms are commonly caused due to rough masturbation. However, it can be sign of underlying medical conditions like genital warts or herpes. Dry scabs are indicative of yeast infection. You can apply ointment clotrimazole on the area affected.

Warm compress may be helpful. You can take analgesic to get rid of soreness and swelling. Do not pick the scab as it may cause infection. Get STD tests done to rule out STI. if STIs are detected you will be treated with antibiotics / antivirals. In case of STI, you can apply ointment acyclovir on the affected area for relief. Get clinically examined by a urologist.
