Should I Be Worried If I Had Cut My Vagina While Removing My Tampon?

I had a tampon stuck (successfully removed by my husband) but upon attempting to remove it myself I cut myself. There was a good bit of blood but stopped quickly. The cut is near the front of my vagina. It didn t hurt. Didn t even know it happened until I saw the blood. Should I be worried about infection??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

If the wound is small and cut edges are close to each other, nothing much to worry and it will heal by itself.

You can apply topical antibiotics like mupirocin for faster recovery. If the cut edged are gaped, the wound edges must be sutured.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
