Should I Consider A Visit To The ER For Sudden High Fever In My 12-year-old While On Amoxicillin For Strep And A Ruptured Eardrum?

Hello, my 12 year old otherwise healthy son is currently taking amoxicillin for strep symptoms and ruptured ear drum. He’s been on the medication for 7 days with no improvement and has begun experiencing fevers at multiple ranges with the highest being 102.8. Should we head to the ER or what options can we pursue at home?

Hi,

High-grade fever is common during respiratory tract infection. you should continue amox and you should give tab paracetamol for the fever.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
