Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should I Consult My Doctor To Manage Side Effects Of Bupropion?
I have been taking Bupropion XL 150MG for a couple of years. I have recently developed some worsening side affects, i.e. shakiness, dry cough, chest heaviness (no chest pain or palpitations), I have also had bronchitis twice in less than a year. The physician who started me on this medication is no longer at the practice and the new MD really doesn t like to handle these types of medications. I do not want to have to see a psychiatrist just to manage my med. I primarily deal with situational anxiety and no depression.Should I just continue on or should I consult with my MD to change this med? Thank you.
You are unlikely to develop side effects of Bupropion if you have been taking the same dosage for a couple of years without any side effects.
Your symptoms of shakiness, dry cough, chest heaviness plus history of bronchitis points toward either any respiratory pathology or it could be anxiety that Bupropion is not able to cover or it could be both.
I would suggest you see an ENT specialist first. If Bupropion is helping you with anxiety then continue taking it as these symptoms are unlikely to be a side effect of Bupropion.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
