For the past week or so I have felt like someone beat me up. I ached all over: shoulders, back, lower bacPrevasrk, legs, knees, and basically just didn't do anything unless it was really necessary. I also began taking a new medication for moderate artery plaque that can cause muscle problems, Prevastatin Sodium 20 MG. I am 68 and just got the prescription filled about the same time that I started feeling bad. My cardologist prescribed it after tests to assess my plague. I'm wondering whether or not to continue taking the new meds.

Hi welcome to health care magic forum.
There are 2 possibilities for the pains, 1) some viral infections like chikan gunya may cause sever pain during or after the fever. 2)the drug prevastatin may cause the pains.
I advise you to consult your doctor for pains, he may change the statin, to other salt.
Avoid taking potato, other tubers, tomato, egg, chicken, and sea foods till the pains are controlled.
