Should I Discontinue Zocor After Experiencing Increased Cholesterol Level With Nausea And Leg Cramps?
Have been on Zocor 40mg for years. Last year, developed problem, Dr. Suggested going off Zocor for 2 months, after which cholesterol totals became very high, 398. Went back on it a year ago. Experiencing nausea, leg cramps, and liver enzymes have increased. Dr. Now tells me to d/C Zocor to see if liver enzymes decrease and nausea subsides. But what about my cholesterol levels? Last time went off, levels skyrocketed. I am female,69 years old.
Zocor contains Simvastatin and cause muscular pain. If you are not able to take the medicine, you can follow some precautions to control your cholesterol levels :-
1.Avoid oily foods. 2.Do regular exercise. 3.Eat foods rich in fiber. 4.Eat lots of salad. 5.Almonds are also helpful.
You can discuss with your doctor if he wants to change the medicine for cholesterol control.
I hope this is helpful to you. Thanks.
