Should I Do About Painful Burning And Itching Sensation In The Vagina After Leaving A Tampon In For 11 Hours?

Hi. I left a tampon in for 11 hours and my vagina has felt very dry. It burns and feels very irritated and is very red, but I have not had any unusual discharge or smell. Do I need to see a doctor or will it go away on it’s own? Is there anything I can do to soothe the pain?

OB & GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms are suggestive of vaginitis, it is mainly due to fungal infection, keep the area dry and clean and drink a lot of warm water and soft diet, use antifungal medicine and cream for application.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Richa Agarwal, OBGYN
