Should I Go For Any Other Test For HIV For More Assurance?

Dear Doctor, I am Amit from India. I had an unprotected encounter with a girl in UK, whom I have known for last 4 months online. We met in April. She seems to be a decent and clean girl although she had a boyfriend from July 2014 to Oct 2014. She said that they were honest to each other and had sex without condom later in her relationship. Since October till April she says she did not have sex and in April we met and on our 3rd date we had sex. I had unprotected sex with her on 14th, 24th April and on 2nd of May 2015 (last exposure). I got myself tested as a worry for HIV on the 90th day (ie; 31/07/2014) of my last exposure. Please tell me is this equivalent to the window period of 3 months ? I got myself test on HIV 1 & HIV 2 based on CMIA method. Although I wanted ELISA. It came out to be Non Reactive. However the lab doctor wants me to go for a DNA test as he says in some people the infection can show in 6 months to 1 year time. I want to know if I should really rely on the DNA test, which as per him will show if the DNA has been attacked recently and is to be double assured. Meanwhile, the girl says she is clean, she is a care worker in UK. She is 34 years old and she had her first relationship when she was 20 years old, she broke off at 22 years old. She had another relation in July 2014 as mentioned above and then with me in April 2015. I am very tensed and worried that are my reports really genuinely tested and am I really free from HIV. Should I go for any other test for more assurance ? I am sending you my copy of my report if you can please have a look and advice me on my email. I will be very grateful to you. Best regards Amit

Dear Amit, as your test result for HIV 1 & 2 is non-reactive after 3 months post exposure than you need not to worry much as it is 99% reliable at 90 days. In some cases it may happen that antibodies will develop after 3 months for which you can go for HIV RNA or DNA PCR to be completely sure about your status as it is 100% confirmatory after 3 months of exposure.
