Hello dear,
I understand your concern.

In my opinion the basic blood and urine investigations are needed to rule out any abnormalities.

The investigations are done at the initial visit like:-
1)HB- to check for HB level and rule out anaemia.

2)Blood grouping and typing.

3)Bleeding time and clotting time- to rule out any clotting abnormalities.

4)Random blood sugar - to check for diabetes. If abnormal and there are any risk factors for diabetes then GTT(Glucose tolerance test) is advised.

5)HIV,HBSAg,VDRL- to rule
out infections

6)Complete urine examination - to rule out urine infection, any protein loss in urine.

Then HB is repeated at at 28 and 36 weeks to rule out anaemia.

Hope this helps.
Best regards....Dr.Srilatha
