Should I Go To The ER For Pain And Tenderness Around A Broken Nail?

Hi, I am having a very tender finger pain, probably from my nail that broke and that I had to pull off. It is not swollen, but is very tender at the left side of the nail. I have tried putting in hot water, but its still the same. Should I go to an Urgent Care place? Could they do anything for it? Its certainly not an emergency so I m not going to spend 4 hrs in an ER for it! Thanks.

Hi,

According to me, you could be suffering from Acute Paronychia. You need not go to emergency room. But, please visit the doctor tomorrow for definite diagnosis and treatment.

Right now, you could take a dose of over the counter painkiller.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
