Should I See A Dentist Before Or After Finishing My Antibiotics For A Cavity And Infection?

hi so I just went to the ER I have a bad cavity/ infection on the back last 2 teeth on the left side of my jaw. I got penicillin to take care of the infection, but I wasn’t sure if I should also set up a appointment with a dentist and if so should I wait before or after I am done taking the antibiotics ?

Hi,

You are advised to see your dentist only after you have completed the course of your antibiotics. Any procedure on your teeth like root canal, filling of cavities or tooth extraction etc. will be taken only after the infection subsides. If the infection has not subsided completely, then an extended course of antibiotics may be advised.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
