Should I See A Doctor For Pain In The Tailbone After An Injury?

I hurt my tailbone 10 days ago. Someone hit me with their knee on my tailbone. This was instant pain, brought tears to my eyes. For several days it only hurt if I sat to fast or to hard. 1 week after it happened, I was sitting sown and was startled and pushed harder into the chair, instant pain and tears again. Since then the last 4 days it (tailbone) has hurt 24/7, sitting, standing, sleeping. Bending causes a surge of pain and near tears. Will this just go away? I take 10mg oxycodone 4 times a day for chronic back pain, these aren t helping the tailbone pain at all. Also taking acetamephine several times a day. Do I need to see a doctor?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The pain in tailbone after injury can be due to coccydynia or due to dislocation. In case the pain is intense or persistent then do consult an orthopedician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Praveen Tayal,
