Should I Seek Immediate Evaluation After Experiencing Sudden Blind Spots In One Eye For Over A Quarter Of An Hour?
Hi, this afternoon I had sudden blind spots in one of my eye and it stayed for maybe about 15-20 mins. It didn’t happen again or has never happened before. Should I be concerned and check with my eye doctor or should I wait and see if it happens again?
Sudden blind spots in one eye for over an hour, yes, you should be concerned. Get clinically examined by an Eye Specialist. Get all required tests and investigations done. Such symptoms may be indicative of retinal detachment, macular degeneration, damage to the retina or optic nerve. It should be taken care of urgently.
Other medical conditions that can cause similar symptoms are glaucoma and tumors. You will be given conservative treatment, or recommended surgery.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
